The TSI-compliant EURO DuFour locomotive is designed to minimize track access costs. With a lightweight monocoque structure of high strength steel, this locomotive can run on all types of railways lines, including secondary lines. It is available in electric versions of 25 kV 50 Hz, 15 kV 16.7 Hz, 3 kV DC and 1.5 kV DC, with a rated power of 7 MW in AC electrification. Hybrid versions with combustion engines and/or batteries to operate efficiently in areas without overhead electric lines, providing not only last-mile connectivity, are also available.

Cutting-edge technology

The EURO DuFour is the most modern locomotive on the market. It integrates the most advanced technology and complies with the latest TSI standards, ensuring exceptional performance, safety and reliability. It is ready for the installation of hybrid and/or digital automatic couplers (DAC) and Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS).

Lightweight

Thanks to their reduced weight, the EURO DuFour can operate on all types of railway lines (C2, C3, C4), including non-electrified secondary lines. This flexibility allows operators to maximize their network usage and improve service reach, even in less accessible areas.

The electrical multisystem locomotive is also available in dual mode versions adding a 1 MW low-emission diesel engine or 2 MW battery pack to enable green off-wire operation.

Image for High performance

High performance

With a power output of up to 7 MW on wheel under AC electrification, the EURO DuFour reaches a maximum speed of 160 or 230 km/h and starting tractive effort 350 kN.

Top efficiency

Equipped with sophisticated energy management systems, including regenerative braking and energy storage capabilities. This not only enhances performance but also contributes to significant energy savings.

Image for Minimum downtime

Minimum downtime

High level of in-built redundancy, extended maintenance intervals and minimum routine consumables to reduce costs and downtime. In addition, in-service proven components and subsystems guarantee outstanding levels of reliability.

Cross-border operations

The locomotive is TSI-compliant and designed to accommodate various country packages, including conventional automatic train protection systems, as well as ETCS. The basic configuration includes Germany, Austria, Switzerland.

THE BEST WORKING PLACE FOR THE DRIVERS

Safe and efficient operations start with the driver. Our drivers’ cabs, with universal central desk, are designed according to ergonomic criteria, as well as in compliance with the noise and comfort requirements as set out in the latest European standards. They are fully insulated, acoustically and thermally, and feature an enhanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system that optimizes cab comfort.

READY FOR THE DIGITAL AUTOMATIC COUPLER (DAC)

The EURO DuFour can already be fitted with the new, fully automatic coupling system. However, as very few freight trains can be equipped with automatic coupling for the time being, Stadler’s EURO series locomotives can also be fitted with hybrid couplings that offer manual and fully automated coupling options.

DIGITALISATION

Our top-of-the-range locomotives are fitted with the latest generation of vehicle control systems, including remote monitoring and diagnosis features to enable our customers to move to a predictive maintenance environment.
