EMU for the vesuvian railway lines EAV
In May 2021, Stadler and Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) signed a Framework Agreement for the supply and full service maintenance of up to 40 EMUs for the metropolitan and suburban service on the 950mm narrow-gauge Vesuvian railway lines.

At the same time, EAV made an initial order of 23 vehicles. The remaining 17 vehicles were ordered in July 2022. In 2023, the two companies signed a new framework agreement covering the manufacture and supply of up to 60 vehicles similar to the previous ones. In a first call-off, EAV ordered 16 trains. The lightweight articulated three-car units allow for an efficient and cost-effective operation. With an overall length of around 40m, they feature five double-leaf doors on each side, enabling passengers to get on and off quickly at stations. Particularly advantageous for people with reduced mobility, who will be able to move easily throughout the interior of the train, are the open and airy passenger compartments. In addition, dedicated areas have been created for wheelchairs, prams and bicycles. This modern interior, with longitudinal seats layout, full CCTV coverage and clear warning indicators, will enhance the passenger’s perception of safety.
