In May 2024, the Swiss Federal Railways SBB had ordered 33 4-car electrical Multiple units of type FLIRT. The Evo France FLIRT is approved for Switzerland and France entered into commercial service between 2029 and 2031 and operate on the S2 and S4 routes of the Basel urban-suburban rail on a cross-border basis.

The multiple unit can be used in Switzerland in quadruple traction and with all other FLIRT Evo subtypes. In France, multiple unit traction is possible with a maximum of three vehicles. The 4-car FLIRT Evo France has a train protection system that consists of ETCS and also the STM KVB and STM RPS according to the French NNTR. The FLIRT Evo France has 28 seats in first class and 118 seats in second class. It also has a continuous passenger compartment with step-free entrance at platform height and a high acceleration capability.
