Since 2017, Stadler has built up an independent, international centre of expertise for signalling technology in Wallisellen. Several teams of highly qualified engineers and specialists are currently conducting research and developing specific signalling solutions for Stadler at the Wallisellen site in the immediate vicinity of Zurich. These include solutions in the areas of automatic train operation (ATO), train protection (ETCS) and driverless metro trains (CBTC). A CBTC system is used in the new metro for Glasgow produced by Stadler, for example.
