The Forchbahn AG has purchased thirteen new low-floor trains for deployment on the Zurich Stadelhofen – Esslingen route. The Stadler vehicle concept permitted the construction of two-part low-floor trains using well-tested GTW components. The specification requirements, and in particular those relating to low-floor boarding matched to the platform height, have been fully met. Thanks to the central arrangement of the traction equipment in the rail coach over the two driven bogies, sufficient traction power is available, even for larger gradients. Two three-stage low-floor trains following the same concept were also built for the Trogen Railway (Trogenerbahn).
