Baselland Transport AG (BLT), Oberwil

With the acceptance of the outline contract,  Stadler will deliver 60 Tango trams over the next 10 years for service in the region of Basel.  This successful in-house developed Tango tram will be delivered for service in Switzerland for the first time.

The initial four vehicles were delivered in 2008 and after successful trial operations, the 1st series of 15 vehicles for the BLT will be delivered 2011/2012. The 2nd series of 20-30 vehicles should be delivered in the year 2014. The Tango has a meter wide track gauge and a 75% low-floor area. The vehicle is 45 m long and offers a place for 268 passengers, 101 of which can be seated.  The vehicle will be composed of 6 unidirectional modules. To ensure increased passenger comfort, the Tango is air-conditioned and operates on air suspended bogies.  8 doors enable a fluid exchange of passengers.
