Steiermark: a region of success for Stadler

The federal state of Steiermark has brought success for Stadler Rail once again: following orders from Grazer Verkehrsbetriebe and Graz-Köflacher-Bahn, now Steiermärkischen Landesbahnen (STLB) has ordered trains from Stadler Rail. STLB gave Stadler Rail the order for six GTW articulated power units on 28 May. The vehicles will be delivered from October 2010 are operate on the rapid transit system in the Graz conurbation. The order is worth around EURO 21 million. Three of the trains will be diesel-electric powered and three electrically powered by 15 KV alternating current.

More GTWs for Texas

The Denton County Transportation Authority DCTA, in the Dallas, Texas region, ordered 11 GTW DMU 2/6 articulated power units from Stadler Rail on 19 May. The order is worth around USD 74 million. The contract includes an option for up to a further 25 GTWs. The trains will operate on the Denton – Carrollton line. This is the second order for Stadler from the state of Texas, following the order for six GTWs for the rapid transit system in the Austin region.

MÁV-START Co. and Stadler Bussnang AG signed an agreement about the maintenance of FLIRT trains

MÁV-START Railway Passenger Transport Co. completed the open negotiated public procurement process for the maintenance and cleaning of FLIRT trains.

The process was started on 16 October 2008, the participating companies had one month to submit their applications in the prequalification phase. The participants had the opportunity to prepare bids for the maintenance and cleaning of 30 FLIRT trains for 30 years, on the condition that at least 94% of the trains will always have to be ready for service and operation without any interruption. FLIRT starts in Algeria

The opening of the first section of the Algiers rapid transit system was celebrated by state President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on 02.05.09. The Stadler FLIRTs have been running on timetable in Algeria since 03.05.09. The official opening was kept to a small scale for security reasons. Stadler Rail received the order from the Algerian national railways SNTF for 64 FLIRTs at a value of around CHF 600 million in 2006.
