Stadler Rail Group to sponsor Szolnoki Olaj Basketball Team
Stadler Rail Group (Stadler) and Szolnoki Olaj Basketball Team (Szolnoki Olaj KK) have concluded a sponsorship agreement at the City Hall of Szolnok today. The contract has been signed by Peter Spuhler, owner and CEO of Stadler Rail Group and Zoltán Tóth the managing director of Szolnoki Olaj KK, in the presence of Ferenc Szalay, Mayor of Szolnok. As a result of the agreement, Stadler will support the basketball club in its goal to achieve a successful performance as the official sponsor of the team.
“It has always been important for Stadler to appear not only as an investor, but also as an active member of the local society at the cities and regions where we are present with production. Szolnoki Olaj KK is an outstanding participant of the Hungarian basketball sport, thus it is a pleasure for us to contribute to the effective operation of the club. We really hope that we can add to the creation of a comfortable atmosphere, in which the team is able to do its best for the joy of the supporters.” – said at a press conference today Peter Spuhler, who is not only the president and chairman of Stadler, but also the majority owner of the Group.
Zoltán Tóth, the managing director of Szolnoki Olaj KK added: We are very pleasedthat we can sign this agreement, as every support coming to us makes the team achieve better and better results. It is crucial for the club to secure every condition that is necessary for a successful operation, so that the players can only focus on the game and nothing else. Now Stadler has also contributed to achieve this goal. We really trust that both sides will be satisfied with the result of this cooperation, so we can enjoy Stadler’s honourable trust in the future too.
Ferenc Szalay, Mayor of Szolnok, and also the former player of Szolnoki Olaj KK said: Szolnok is proud of its values, not only in terms of economy, but also in relation with culture and sports. This time two pearls of Szolnok start a closer cooperation, one of them is a significant sport team of the county, while the other is a very important company for Szolnok’s future. We really hope that this cooperation will help the development of this sport in Szolnok, and the improvement of its results too. This agreement is a proof for us that Stadler intends to take part in the social life of the town, which strengthens its relations to Szolnok.
Stadler has been present in Szolnok since 2008, when the Swiss rolling stock manufacturer laid the foundation stone of its aluminium car body welding plant. The plant will do the welding of aluminium car bodies for the production of FLIRT trains.The production within the frames of a test run has already started, the plant will expectedly reach its maximum capacity planned for this year, which mean an annual production of 60 carbodies, at the and of February or the beginning of March. In the first phase of the investment Stadler creates 200 working places, and in addition it brings a technology and expertise to Szolnok, which is unique in the whole CEE region.
Szolnoki Olaj KK is the most favoured sport team in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. The team has always been a significant member of the Hungarian basketball league, during its history the team has been the champion of the Hungarian league twice, and also won the Hungarian cup two times. Szolnoki Olaj KK last won the league in 2007. The team possesses one of the largest supporter base of the Hungarian indoor sports, the average number of supporters that regularly visit the matches is around 2200.
