Roll-out of first GTW for Gelderland (NL)
Arriva and Stadler Rail are today celebrating the joint roll-out of the first diesel-electric articulated multiple-unit train (DMU-GTW) in the Dutch province of Gelderland. In mid-2010, Arriva Netherlands placed an order with Stadler for 24 DMU-GTWs for the Rivierenland Achterhoek concession in the province of Gelderland. These vehicles have been developed in many areas and, as such, are improved versions of the Arriva GTW trains that are already successfully in service. One of the enhancements is an ultra-modern, environmentally friendly drive unit.

Management changes in Swiss Division
Stadler Rail Group has seen strong growth over the last few years. The management structure is being reinforced in order to face the challenges of the future. Peter Spuhler has handed over the reins of the Swiss Division to long-standing CEO of Stadler Bussnang, Markus Bernsteiner. Spuhler will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors and Group CEO of Stadler Rail. The new CEO of Stadler Bussnang is Dr Thomas Ahlburg, who has proven his management expertise in the railway vehicle sector. Dr Thomas Ahlburg was previously manager of the Bombardier factory in Görlitz.

GYSEV and Stadler signed contract on EMU delivery – first new FLIRT to arrive at Sopron early 2014
Ilona Dávid, Chairwoman and CEO of Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurti Vasút Zrt. (GYSEV) and Zoltán Dunai, Hungarian Country Manager of Stadler Rail Group (Stadler) signed a contract today on the supply of 4 regional electric motor trains issued in the tender for the modernisation of service on the Sopron-Szombathely-Szentgotthárd railway line. The total value of the contract is about EUR 20 million, 85 % of which is covered by the European Union’s Cohesion Fund. Stadler Rail presents first BLS double-decker
The presentation of the first BLS double-decker multiple-unit train in Erlen, canton of Thurgau, is a historic moment for BLS. BLS’s first-time procurement of double-deckers will provide up to 30% more seating capacity on the Berne commuter railway system lines they are used on. The 28 compositions ordered will be produced by Stadler Rail in Altenrhein and delivered by the end of 2014. The first trains are due to start timetabled services in late 2012.

SBB Cargo commissions first hybrid locomotive
Efficient and eco-friendly wagonload service
Today, SBB Cargo put the first of its 30 hybrid locomotives into operation. This will provide a more economical and ecological wagonload service. As the most modern locomotive on the market, it will be deployed on main-line duties and in shunting operations.
