More FLIRTs for Ferrotramviaria

End of January 2008, Ferrotramviaria SpA exercised the option contained in the contract signed last year and ordered two further FLIRT electric multiple units. The value of the order is about EURO 11 million. With this the short-haul transport company for the Bari region will own a fleet of four FLIRTs from Stadler.

Ferrotramviaria and Stadler continue their co-operation. After a very successful 2007 for Stadler in Italy with orders taken for EURO 100 million this trend is continuing this year. The customer Ferrotramviaria has exercised the option in its contract to order two further FLIRT power units. This is a clear signal that our successful co-operation will be extended and strengthened. As Peter Jenelten, Executive Vice President Marketing & Sales Stadler Rail Group says ”We are very pleased and proud that Ferrotramviaria has taken up the option. It is a clear indication by the customer that it is satisfied with our product and services and that we will continue to work together successfully." The vehicles: The additional order for FLIRTs is again for 4-car units which reach a top speed of 160 km an hour. There are more than 200 comfortable seats available for the passengers in the fully air-conditioned vehicles. A full-length low floor area, a modern passenger information system with flat screens and an open and transparent design complete the modern interior of the trains. The trains will enter commercial service on the Bari – Barletta line in September 2009.
