Stadler is on schedule: First S-Bahn carriage topped out

Twelve months ago, Stadler Rail signed a contract with the SBB for 50 DOSTO double-decker rail cars with a value of approx. CHF 1 billion. Today, after only one year, Stadler Rail celebrates the topping-out ceremony for the first car body. The demanding time schedule has been able to be met without any problem. Within this period, the Altenrhein factory has been expanded into the double–decker competence centre at a cost of CHF 30 million. 19 GTW for Region Lombardy

Ferrovienord (FNM Group) has ordered 19 GTW articulated railcars from Stadler Rail. The order has a volume of almost 90 million Euro, and the contract also includes several supplementary options for additional vehicles. The trains will be used on the Milan – Molteno – Lecco and Brescia – Iseo – Edolo lines. Ferrovienord is thereby already the eighth Stadler customer in Italy.

Stadler to produce MÁV FLIRTs partly in Szolnok

Stadler Szolnok Kft, Hungarian branch of Stadler Rail Group, has acquired the last licence required for the launch of its operation and started the production of aluminium car-bodies for trains today. According to the current plans, the plant will weld and paint the body shells of at least 7 FLIRTs out of the 30 trains, which Stadler is going to deliver to the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) by 2010. The local share in the production process means that the most state-of-the-art trains operating in the country will be partly Hungarian made products.

New tramway for Mainz – Stadler receives the contract to supply Variobahn trams

The contract has been signed. Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH has awarded Stadler Pankow GmbH the contract to supply nine Variobahn trams with an option for a further six vehicles. Delivery of the one-directional vehicles will be made from 2012. The value of the order is around € 20 million.

“The Variobahn is penetrating ever further into the market,” said Michael Daum, Chief Executive Officer of Stadler Pankow GmbH, “and its modular construction allows us to adapt it individually to the infrastructure that is already available and so respond to the wishes that are put to us."

Modern electric shunting locomotive delivered to the SBB

Today, Stadler Winterthur AG is handing over the first of 21 newly developed electric shunting locomotives to the SBB. The SBB needs these modern, powerful locomotives for the composition of passenger trains and the addition of extra carriages. Following an international call for tenders, the SBB awarded to contract, which has a value of 40 million Swiss Francs, to Stadler Winterthur AG in December 2007.
