Schweizerische Bundesbahnen Eem 923
In July 2010, SBB CARGO placed the order for 30 Locomotives for cargo and shunting Services. Under a catenary wire with either 15 kV/16.7 Hz or 25 kV/50 Hz, the hybrid-locomotive develops a high performance. It is also capable to operate without catenary-wire in order to serve the “last mile” without loss of traction-effort. With it’s bulk power of 1500 kW, a maximum speed of 120 km/h and possibility of multiple-unit-control, the Eem 2/2 meets the requirements of shunting-services, especially with its short buffer-overhang in S- curves without loss of traction-effort, as well as of cargo-conveyance with medium-weight trains. The Eem 2/2 is designed to be mainly operated by catenary-wire power- supply. Economic power-consumption, long maintenance-intervals and therefore high availability as well as a long life cycle due to electric-drive are the advantages of this vehicle-family.
