Stadler Bussnang AG, Switzerland
Stadler is headquartered in Bussnang, a town in the east of Switzerland. The company's founder Ernst Stadler erected a first works hall there in 1962. One of the walls from this first structure still serves as a supporting wall in the assembly facility to this day. Stadler had a workforce of 18 people when Peter Spuhler took it over in 1989. Nowadays, the facility in Bussnang comprises about 51.000 m2 of production and storage space and employs about 1700 people. Stadler currently has a workforce of around 7000 employees around the world.
Bussnang is the competence centre for the EC250, FLIRT and articulated multiple unit series of models, for the Tailor-made business unit, including rack-and-pinion rail vehicles and broad gauge vehicles. Employees of Stadler Bussnang AG are deployed in the following business units: Engineering, Purchasing, Production – Vehicles, Repairs and Metre-Gauge Bogie – as well as Commissioning and Startup.
Vehicle Sales is also based in Bussnang. Products are sold right right around the world from there. Bussnang is also home to the holding company, Stadler Rail Group. Stadler Bussnang has operated a commissioning and startup centre in the nearby town of Erlen since October 2010.
